8 Relationships Stress Relief Tips

Stress - it affects us all. We cannot escape it, but we can minimize it. In a busy, stressful world, let's review eight top ways to lessen stress from impacting our lives.

1 - Workplace stress is for the workplace. Leave it there. When you get home from the office there are enough things that might stress you out about family life, without bringing office problems home. Where possible, forget work the moment you leave the building.

2 - Build concrete relationship by maintaining clear and honest communication. Avoiding misunderstandings and trying to be considerate can contribute to avoiding stress at the first place. Getting into your partner's shoes, looking through their eyes and perceiving life from their point of view can make a huge difference.

3 - Everything in moderation. The last thing a family under stress needs is to increase their stress through imbalance. This is most evident with alcohol, but alcohol is not the only excess that can bring the family stress. Overspending by one party can lead to financial stress; attention seeking by one party can lead to emotional stress. Keep a balance.

4 - Healthy options should be considered. Take walks, with your partner if possible. Talk or chat lightly. There's no need to take huge hikes, a few kilometers a day can give you a chance to get fresh air, some exercise and some quality bonding time. Where possible leave cell phones behind - quality time with a partner should be with that partner alone, not with whoever happens to call.

5 - A little consideration goes a long way. By all means talk about your own stresses and concerns, but also be prepared to listen to your partners, or your family members. Schoolyard bullying or problems are much easier uncovered in an environment where consideration is given to younger family members.

6 - Let go of controlling over decisions. Being open to other opinions better the atmosphere by making the other party feel appreciated. It also can provide you with crucial decision making information you would not otherwise have.

7 - Encourage successes while also embrace failures. Life is richer then our imagination. Being prepared only for some options may raise stress. More than that, when the other party in the relationship knows you are prepared for all options, it not only strengthen the bond but also lowers stress.

8 - Live for the present AND the future. Don't be so preoccupied making money for the future that you become distracted from recognizing and enjoying your families present.
